Overview: Voices Through the Static Paranormal has conducted 30+
investigations at The Manor, Beloit, Wi.

History: The Manor - 2102 Freeman Pkwy, Beloit, Wi., was built in
1900. The 'Morgan Farm' or 'Morgan Manor', as it went by at that time,
was originally built on 1100 acres. An enormous estate, it was built and
occupied by Fred Morgan, his wife Mary, and their four children. Fred
was a magnate of a well-known tire and rubber manufacturing company
- this brought him financial success. The family was considered to be
among one of Beloit's, if not Wisconsin's, most elite. Wisconsin's first-
ever recorded powered aircraft flight took place on the family's farm by
aviator, A.P. Warner. Hiram Morgan (Fred Morgan's son), as well as Fred
Morgan himself, were aviation enthusiasts.  The Morgan family remained
in the estate, even after Fred Morgan's death, in 1920. Freeman Shoe
Company owner, Richard Freeman, then bought the home in 1932. The
Freeman family stayed on there until 1958 when the property and
hundreds of acres of farmland were sold off reducing the land to just
200 acres. The barns and other outbuildings were also destroyed. In
1963, after the Freeman family had sold the land and property, it was
turned into a supper club and "The Manor" restaurant was born. Over
the years, The Manor changed owners numerous times: Nino Germano
and his son-in-law, John Fiorello purchased the building in 1966. Darrell
Kramer bought the restaurant in 1996 and renovation began on the
building. The business tanked in 1996 and it was left abandoned until
1998, when Midwest Hospitality took over management. It again went
under and Kramer took over once again. It was vacant once more until
2001, when well-known Beloit businessman, James Patch purchased the
building. By 2002 The Manor had, once again, fallen into abandonment.
During this time it had on occasion served as a local haunted house
Halloween attraction for the city of Beloit. Props from those times
remained in the building for years to come. By 2011, the historic
landmark was severely weathered and had fallen into disrepair.
Demolition of The Manor began on July 19th, 2011 and was completed
within days.

Purported Hauntings: Throughout the years, paranormal activity has
been reported by past employees, patrons and since it's closing, even
pedestrians. Many people have reported seeing the ghost of a little girl
walking in the building and around the grounds. The spirit of an old
woman was said to peer through the windows before they were all
boarded up. Back in the building’s restaurant days, both patrons and
employees claimed to see figures in the mirrors only to turn around and
find no one there. Voices have been said to have been heard throughout
the building. Former employees that we have spoken with have said that
they refused to be in the building alone or to go upstairs by themselves.
Feelings of "not being alone" were often felt. Throughout the years,
including very recently, law enforcement officials from the city of Beloit
refused to go into the building to do routine checks because of the
notorious reputation of the building. A fire had broken out at the
establishment on April 31st, 1970 and one of the firemen called to duty
refused to enter the building because of the rumors of spirits there. A
relative of the caretaker of the establishment, also a Beloit police
officer, was in the building alone in 2003. She was on the 2nd floor doing
some routine work on the premises. She reported feeling, "a cold
breeze, then the chandeliers began swinging violently". She grabbed the
camera she had brought along with her and, in her own words stated, "I
had enough time to take one photo", before she ran down the stairs in
terror and out of the building. That photo can be seen below. In that
photo (35mm), there appears to be an old woman with a bun in her hair,
sitting to the left (we have circled this in red). The photo is watermarked
with our original moniker, 'Kindred Spirits Paranormal'. Click on

On one occasion, the caretaker of the establishment was doing some
work in the lobby and reported hearing voices in the 1st floor kitchen
within hours prior to one of our investigations. This unnerved him
enough that he then went outside and called us to see when we were
arriving. This man does not scare easily. He also had reported that a
few years before this incident, hearing a man speaking while he was
alone in the building. The voice came from the east employee stairwell
leading to the 2nd floor. He also reports seeing a mist in the building.
Several local construction workers have reported hearing stories of
mobsters burying bodies near or underneath the establishment. This
however, cannot be confirmed and we believe this to only be rumors.

We were allowed to investigate The Manor,
alone as a team, with keys in hand, doors
locked if need be, roaming the interior and
exterior on our own time - as much time as
we felt we needed over a seven year span.
This would have not been possible if it were
not for the kindness and generosity of the
caretaker of the establishment.
We thank him with all our hearts.

Our experiences at The Manor were
extensive and by far, numerous. It made
believers out of non-believers and opened
our eyes (and ears) to what may exist
beyond the physical realm. We are honored
to have been able to investigate this
exquisite, opulent and historic establishment.
It became our favorite "haunt" and we are
going to miss it.
Our experiences:
The majority of the time at The Manor was
spent sitting quietly, waiting for something,
anything to happen. It was most of the time,
safe to say, quite boring. But on some
occasions, there were experiences that we
could not explain; no amount of debunking
could bring us to a conclusion other than that
of something paranormal in nature.

Some of the most notable experiences
were
:
(3 team members) Investigators could clearly
hear what sounded like a little girl yelling while
we were sitting in the 2nd story north side old
dining area. The caretaker had stopped by
and was outside. He had two friends (police
officers) stop over and they briefly visited
outside for a few minutes. The screaming
stopped. When they left, we tried to get the
little girl to talk again. We received an
amazing EVP of what sounds like an old
woman stating,
"Never finding out". Soon to
be posted in our EVP section for this
investigation.

(3 team members). Nearing an investigation
while sitting in the bar area, footsteps were
heard on the 2nd floor by team members. As
investigators quickly ascended the stairs and
entered the main area of 2nd floor, what
sounded like someone whistling at us was
heard near the north side old dining area.
Then what sounded like running footsteps
heading toward the back west side stairwell.
We made chase but soon realized, there was
no one to follow.

(2 team members). Investigators were
chatting quietly amongst themselves in the
2nd floor ballroom area when a male voice
could clearly be heard mumbling roughly
25-30 ft. behind one of the team members.
The voice did register on her recorder and this
voice will be placed on our Manor EVP page.

(2 team members) The investigators were on
the 2nd floor in the ballroom area and heard
footfalls of what sounded like men's heavy
work boots ascending the west side employee
stairwell. The investigators were given the
keys and had locked the doors themselves in
the building for the night. The building was
checked out thoroughly and no one was found.

(5 team members). All 5 investigators were on
the 2nd floor. It is our belief that a young girl
may have been harmed in The Manor because
of the strange EVP that we have acquired over
the years. An investigator stated something
about this - out loud - questioning the spirits
about a possible murder. Within seconds an
extremely loud crash was heard coming from
the downstairs area. It was so loud it shook
the 2nd story floor. This amazed us as the
concrete floor is 18 inches thick (as are all of
the exterior walls). We investigated everything
possible downstairs and found no explanation
for the noise.

Surrounded by the purported haunted
"mirrors" at times on our investigations, we
did not once experience seeing anything
unusual in that sense, as reported by many of
the previous patrons or employees.

All in all we experienced hearing voices,
banging, whistling, footsteps and noises that
sounded as though someone was moving
about the interior of the premises even after
the establishment had been thoroughly
checked bottom to top, room to room by the
caretaker and investigators and all the doors
had been locked from the inside by our team.

We received both positive photos, EVP and
video.
The majority of EVP collected from
The Manor, can be found throughout our
site.

The Manor was demolished only three days
after our final investigation there.

In conclusion, as a team, we do feel The
Manor had been haunted by both intelligent
and residual spirits.
